Abstract

The possibility of quantum computers has stimulated research over many scientific disciplines. Although the realization of a general-purpose, large-scale device is an extremely difficult technical challenge, the subject has stimulated research on more tractable tasks that employ many of the same principles. Discussion topics can range from measurements whose sensitivity is limited by the constraints of quantum mechanics or systems whose dynamics show a quantum advantage, perhaps through entanglement, up to the potential uses of larger systems such as in a quantum simulator.
