I regret that I am not physically with you but let me imagine, perhaps now, just in front of you, above the lake, the gigantic mushroom of an unfolding thunderstorm. It won't be a surprise; the meteorologists predict a tumultuous summer. What do we do then? The boats are hurrying towards the port. The peasants protect their crops as well as they can, even here, at the Lindau meeting, everyone stirs and takes cover.
Let's leave the imagination, let's get back to the facts, those of the IPCC and IPBES who tell us that another storm is upon us. It upsets the climate and life on earth. We can't hide from it, but we can face it. In fact, much better than for a real thunderstorm. So, what do we do?
We get to work, all together, and each according to his means and skills! We are scientists. More than others, we have the means to understand and act, while keeping, deep in our heart the old recipe, too often forgotten "Science without conscience is but the ruin of the soul".
It depends on us that the future is bright.
